1st Sogang University International Graduate Student Conference on East and South East Asian Studies
Breaking Borders: Bridging Network through Social Inquiry
May 27-28, 2010 - Seoul, South Korea
Introduction:
This two-day conference offers an opportunity for graduate students around the world to share their research on East and South East Asia. Graduate students are invited to submit papers to the conference. We welcome paper submissions from master’s and doctoral students engaged in research on East and South East Asian Studies in the fields of international studies/relations, sociology, economics, development studies, anthropology, and other social science disciplines with particular focus on the ff: areas but not limited to:

Trade and Finance
Objectives:
1. To provide a forum where graduate students can disseminate their research results.
2. To provide a venue for young researches to establish network amongst themselves.

Participants: Bona fide graduate students (master’s and doctoral) from around the world doing research on East and South East Asia.

Guidelines of Abstract Submission:
1. Abstract should be written in English.
2. Abstract should only contain 250 words at the maximum.
3. Please complete the on-line abstract submission form on or before April 23, 2010. Failure to do so may result to non-acceptance of paper. Click here for submission.
4. Papers must not have been presented or published elsewhere. This can be on-going or completed research. We discourage multiple authorship.
5. The abstract will be reviewed by the abstract review committee. Results will be posted at the conference website. The organizers will only inform the accepted applicants by email. Enquiries related to non-acceptance of papers will not be entertained.
6. Final paper submission is due on May 14, 2010 with a maximum of 10 pages, 12-pt, Times New Roman, single space in MSWord format. Name your file using your family name (CAPITALIZED), first name, and abstract (e.g. GALASJanabstract.doc) and send to [email protected].
Cost: PARTICIPATION/REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATION FEES FOR THE TWO-DAY CONFERENCE WILL BE SHOULDERED BY THE CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS(SOGANG U GSIS)! Sogang University will provide the conference venue, equipment, and kit FOR FREE. Participants are responsible for their transportation to and from South Korea. In-land transportation and food shall also be shouldered by the participants. However, free lunch will be provided only to the presenters.
Visa: For visa application purposes, Sogang University will provide invitation letters to accepted applicants.
Registration: Presenters and non-presenters needing Korean visa should submit their registration form
from April 23 to May 5, 2010.
